Invincible.
I sat down for about three days straight just watching absolute cinema. I knew the season three episodes were coming out for a while now but I was just waiting for all the episodes to come out to just watch Invincible from season one to season three in one sitting. And after watching all that I must say that the show is a masterpiece.
INVINCIBLE
Plot
Invincible is an animated superhero TV series based on the comic book by Robert Kirkman. It follows Mark Grayson, a 17-year-old who discovers he has superpowers, inherited from his father, Omni-Man, the world’s most powerful superhero. As Mark begins his journey as the hero Invincible, he struggles with balancing his normal life, relationships, and superhero duties.
However, as he learns more about his abilities, he also uncovers dark secrets about his father that shake his perception of heroism and the world around him. The show blends coming-of-age drama, brutal action, and shocking twists, setting it apart from traditional superhero stories.
My Thoughts
Season One
First of all I must say this show was a masterpiece. Especially Season One. It started off as kind of a murder mystery. The strongest superhero in the world killing all the guardians of the globe and the entire world is just wondering who did it. The pacing of this season too was also great. We, the viewers got to follow the story from all perspectives. We got to be Debbie, slowly finding out that her husband was not really the man she had been with for 20 years and we got to be Omni-Man, beating the life out of his own son. Season One was just perfect, fooling us into thinking at the start that it was just going to be some regular generic, cartoon superhero tv show, but then Omni-Man does that.
The gory scenes also just added to the surprise as Omni-Man literally just tears everyone and everything apart. The fight between Invincible and his father was just eating me alive. Every punch Omni-Man landed on Invincible I just felt in my bones. This fight carried far more emotion than any other showdown in cartoon history. I’m not really sure you can call it a fight since it was soooooo one sided but we got to see the lengths Invincible goes to just stand by his people.
My Season One rating: 9/10
Season Two
This season had a lot of Amber and Mark. I don’t really like Amber, her face just pisses me off so its honestly the reason why a whole two points is taking out of my rating for this season. This season mainly focused on how Mark handles being a superhero without his dad and that lingering feeling that a Viltrumite (a strong alien race in the show whose sole purpose is to take over weaker planets to make them stronger. Omni-man is a Viltrumite from the planet Viltrum) can just return and kill him and everything he loves at any moment. Actually a Viltrumite did come to tell him he has to prepare the planet for Viltrumite rule and then proceeded to absolutely destroy him when he refused. They also introduced a future problem in that Season, Armstrong Levy. Honestly, minus another point on my rating for this season again. He is a good villain, his powers have so much potential but tell me why they had to make his head so UGLY.
WHAT IS THAT??? IT IS HORRENDOUS. Every time his ugly head is in the frame the only thing that saves me from smashing my screen is how much of a masterpiece the show is. He is by far the most ugly thing I have ever seen.
The side story in this season was pretty interesting though. It followed one of my favourite characters, Allen the Alien. I was honestly so proud of him for becoming strong enough to beat a Viltrumite (already better than Invincible). Omni-Man was changing and didn’t want to take over planets and galaxies and was facing execution in a viltrumite prison and my pookie Allen the Alien came to rescue him.
Season Two Rating:
8/10
If Amber didn’t exist and Armstrong Levy wasn’t ugly it will be a 10. I didn’t take away two points because of Amber’s annoying face because Mark breaks up with her this season.
Season Three
A moment of silence for one of my other favourite characters… Rex.
He will not be forgotten. By far, one of the best characters in the show. He had so much character development. He started off as Eve’s horrible boyfriend who cheated on her with Duplikate and her many duplicates, but he grew so much to become the good person he died as. Bro died exploding his own skeleton to try to stop… Invincible???
Yeahhh this season had a bunch of crazy stuff going on. Somehow that ugly thing called Armstrong lived Invincible’s beating and called for 18 different Invincibles from different universes to come destroy the original Invincible’s Earth. Invincible beat his ass again and unfortunately he survived… again. Minus one point on the season rating for that.
Fast forward to the end of the season, Invincible is fighting a VILTRUMITE. And he is losing. Who would’ve thought. But surprisingly in the end he won, although I wish he did not need Eve’s help he finally beat Viltrumite. Yayyyy now a bunch of viltrumites are probably going to come beat up Invincible in the coming seasonsss. I honestly don’t know how the writers are going to save him, he’s cooked.
Thoughts on my Thoughts
Honestly the show is amazing, going into my top 10 list of TV shows for sure. One thing I love about the show is how strong the Viltrumites are. One single Viltrumite from an empire of Viltrumites just causes Invincible so much trouble. The fight scenes are just so long and brutal between Invincible and the Viltrumite and we as the viewers just know these Viltrumites aren’t even trying to kill Mark because they are just toying with him the entire fight. And then there is the thought that there is a whole empire of Viltrumites just waiting. That’s just crazy to me.
One thing I didn’t like is how weak Invincible is. He is just trash. Are you telling me you can’t beat up one Viltrumite. Conquest was destroying his own brother and he just barely saved him. Like how hard can it be to just lock in. Personally, if I was there I would’ve absolutely obliterating and Viltrumite that lays a finger on my planet. You can ask anyone I know, I’m just bad like that.
